Daily After-School Reading, Homework Help & Art Program 2:45pm to 6pm Monday to Friday
At the Jynell Belle Creative Arts Resource Center, daily reading, phonetic tools practice, and art activities are essential for the development of children aged 3 and older and we celebrate each child as they Learn, Create and Shine in these areas!
Daily Reading
We encourage a consistent reading routine where each child reads aloud for 10-15 minutes with a skilled teacher, building confidence and appreciation. We choose colorful, engaging picture books with simple, repetitive text to hold their attention. Open ended questions about the story and pictures to develop comprehension and vocabulary are asked and each child is encouraged to “read” along by pointing at pictures and repeating familiar words.
Phonetic Tools Practice
At the Jynell Belle Creative Arts Resource Center phonetic activities using tools like alphabet blocks, flashcards, and magnetic letters are used to build foundations for stronger reading. We focus on letter sounds rather than names, helping the child associate sounds with letters and games like matching sounds to pictures or identifying beginning sounds in simple words. We practice blending sounds to form simple words, promoting early decoding skills.
Art Activities
Each week at the Jynell Belle Creative Arts Resource Center we compete an exciting Art Project that is rooted in a Fine Art principle. Daily open-ended art supplies such as crayons, washable markers, finger paints, and paper are available for individual exploration. We Invite children to explore colors, shapes, and textures freely to foster creativity and fine motor skills.
Combining these daily practices nurtures literacy, creativity, and cognitive development in children through fun, interactive experiences.
2:45 to 6 pm daily.
WEEKLY SATURDAY ART CLUB 10 am to 11:30 am!
The Jynell Belle Creative Arts Resource Center buzzes with excitement every Saturday. Our weekend Club is a vibrant, hands-on art experience designed for all ages to unleash creativity in the most enjoyable way. Each session transforms a welcoming space into a playground of colors, textures, and imagination. Participants explore different art mediums weekly—painting, clay modeling, collage, and more—guided by passionate instructors who make learning feel like play. The club emphasizes experimentation over perfection, encouraging participants to express their unique style without pressure. Group projects spark collaboration and laughter, while individual creations showcase personal stories. Snacks and music keep the energy high, making every Saturday not just a class, but a joyful community celebration of art.
WEEKLY FINE ART YOUTH WORKSHOPS 6pm to 7:30pm
At the Jynell Belle Creative Arts Resource Center our Youth Fine Art Workshops offer a dynamic space for recreation, catharsis, and skill building. These workshops provide our youth with an opportunity to engage in creative expression, using various mediums such as painting, drawing, sculpture, resin art, sewing and mixed media. As a form of recreation, the sessions encourage relaxation and enjoyment, allowing participants to explore their imagination and have fun away from academic pressures.
Beyond fun, these workshops serve as a powerful outlet for catharsis. Through art, youth can process emotions, reduce stress, and communicate feelings that might be difficult to express with words. This emotional release fosters mental wellness and self-awareness, making the creative process both therapeutic and healing.
Skill building is another core benefit, as participants develop foundational techniques and artistic concepts. Our Instructors guide our youth in mastering color theory, composition, brushwork, and other essential practices. Over time, these skills enhance confidence and artistic identity, laying the groundwork for future creative pursuits or even professional paths in the arts.
Overall, youth fine art workshops blend recreation, emotional expression, and technical growth, supporting holistic development in a nurturing environment.
Choose any two workshops to participate in weekly.
Thursday through Saturday 6 to 7:30pm

Personal Development and Creativity in Children and Youth.
By Jynell Osborne Belle – Mother, Teacher, Creative Arts Coach, Entrepreneur & Philanthropist.
I've always enjoyed research and writing and I am finally ready to publish all the blogs that I have been writing and editing in my head, lol. As a teacher of art in its various forms for over twenty years – yikes, lol, and now Creative Arts coach, I have witnessed firsthand in and outside of the classroom the transformative power of artistic expression in fostering self-esteem, emotional intelligence, and critical thinking skills in all who interface with it; especially children and youth. In this my first blog, I will explore how nurturing creativity in young people can significantly enhance their personal development, providing them with tools to navigate life's challenges. Personal development and creativity are essential components of growth in children and youth.
Creativity is not just about the traditional genres in art that we most times think about like painting or drawing; it encompasses a wide range of activities – especially those activities that challenge our loved ones to go deeper and apply themselves - that truly allow children and youth to express themselves.
Engaging in creative pursuits consistently over time helps ideas spark and grow in young minds (I will leave this train of thoughts for another blog, lol) creating a creative idea bank to draw from. A single idea is a firm place to begin – the process is an adventure, and the outcome is secondary to the process. When children create something, whether it’s a piece of art, a story, or a performance, they experience a sense of accomplishment that builds confidence. This boosts their self-esteem and encourages them to take risks in other areas of their lives.
One of the most organic strengths that develops as a result of constantly interfacing with creative arts activities is enhanced problem-solving skills. Creative arts when delivered correctly often involves exploration and experimentation. Children learn to think outside the box, developing critical thinking skills that are essential for problem-solving in everyday situations - situations that are unique to them and their experiences.
Creative Arts sessions should provide a safe space for children to express their emotions. By creating, they can explore feelings, process experiences, and communicate what they might struggle to articulate verbally, we all know one child or maybe children who struggle to express themselves through spontaneous vocabulary – creative arts speaks for them. Emotional intelligence is developed with every creative arts experience.
As a coach, I recommend several strategies for parents and educators to encourage creativity in children and youth:
1. Create a Safe Space for Consistent Creative Expression: Establish an environment where children feel free to express themselves without judgment. This can be a designated art corner, a writing nook, or simply a quiet space where they can explore their thoughts and ideas. If it becomes mess over time, use this opportunity to help them clean up the space consistently and learn organizing skills.
2. Encourage Freedom to Plan and Execute Creative Projects Exploration: Allow children to experiment with different mediums and forms of expression. Whether it’s painting, writing, dancing, or playing music, providing access to various creative outlets can help them discover their passions.
3. Incorporate Creativity into Daily Life: Integrate creative activities into everyday routines – their outfits, food, hairstyles – encourage thinking outside of the box. This could be as simple as storytelling during family meals, encouraging imaginative play, or involving children in DIY projects around the house. Make it a norm in your home to be uniquely and wonderfully made!
4. Provide Positive Feedback (even when you have no clue what it is – remember, it's not about you): Celebrate their efforts and creativity, regardless of the outcome. Positive reinforcement encourages children to continue exploring and expressing themselves.
The Role of Art in Social Development
Creativity also plays a crucial role in social development. Collaborative art projects or group activities help children learn teamwork, communication, and empathy. Here are some ways to incorporate social elements into creative pursuits:
1. Seek Out Group Workshops: Organize workshops where children can work together on a project. This fosters collaboration and allows them to learn from one another.
2. Spend Time at and Create Art Exhibitions: Host events where children can showcase their work. This not only builds confidence but also encourages them to appreciate the creativity of their peers. Also visit art exhibitions and spend time exploring exhibitions.
3. Join Community Projects: Engage young people in community art projects that address local issues. This instills a sense of responsibility and connection to their community.
Think of these experiences as building blocks in the life of children and youth that must be repeated as often as possible; nurturing creativity in children and youth is vital for their personal development. As a creative arts coach, I believe that by providing opportunities for self-expression, exploration, and collaboration, we can equip young individuals with the skills they need to thrive. Creativity is not just an artistic endeavor; it is a fundamental aspect of personal growth that shapes confident, resilient, and empathetic individuals. Let us embrace the power of creativity and support our children in their journey of self-discovery and personal development.
